Job Purpose

To achieve annual sales goals set by the National Sales Director in the areas of advertising, online, sponsorships and exhibit sales. Responsible for developing and growing strong relationships for FPA with key institutional members and potential members.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prospecting new accounts and finding the pertinent decision maker
  • Initiating calls on new accounts
  • Maintaining a current book of business
  • Practice a "needs analysis" approach to discovering and understanding clients to help them achieve their goals
  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations
  • Negotiating and closing sales
  • Meeting sales quotas and goals
  • Developing and generating a lead list
  • Bringing innovative approaches and ideas to the table

Supplemental Duties & Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations for new product and sales opportunities based on client needs
  • Understand the competitive landscape and bring information to the sales group
  • Read and review FPA publications and competing publications
  • Attend financial conferences and shows to prospect for new accounts and develop relations with current accounts

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelors degree in marketing and or communications
  • Excellent verbal, written and math skills
  • Three or more years experience in advertising sales for a financial print magazine helpful
  • Quantifiable success in previous sales positions
  • A personable high energy, outgoing and creative demeanor
  • Previous experience in working with financial companies a plus
  • Knowledge of contact data base management such as ACT
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint a must
