Financial planner dedicated to promoting diversity in the profession gains access to one-of-a-kind conference
DENVER – May 1, 2013 – The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) recently announced its 2013 Retreat Diversity Scholarship winner, recognizing a top professional who is working to expand diversity in the financial planning profession. The merit-based scholarship recipient earns a one-year FPA membership, free registration and travel expenses to FPA Retreat 2013 being held in Palm Springs, Calif., May 4-6.
The FPA Retreat 2013 FPA Diversity Scholarship recipient is Kasia Marczyk, CFP®, CRPC®, from FPA of the Gold Coast.
“FPA is a community committed to supporting professionals from a wide variety of personal and business backgrounds in an effort to build one profession that embraces diversity” said Lauren M. Schadle, CAE, FPA executive director and CEO. “The FPA Diversity Scholarship recognizes those dedicated to increasing awareness of having a diverse profession in order to serve a diverse client base.”
The scholarship is awarded to financial services students and professionals willing to demonstrate and act upon an intense desire to affect the diversity of the financial planning profession, including but not limited to:
- Raising awareness of the profession in diverse communities;
- Serving diverse communities with financial planning; and
- Increasing professional opportunities for diverse communities within the financial planning profession.
The Diversity Scholarship Program is sponsored by the FPA Diversity Committee, who also chose the winner. Their mission is to develop strategies to raise awareness and promote inclusiveness of diverse communities including but not limited to: age, race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation in the financial planning profession.
