​Three members also elected to the FPA Board of Directors for 2018


DENVER (October 2, 2017) - The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) today announced that the Board of Directors has elected Evelyn M. Zohlen, CFP® as the 2018 FPA President-Elect for a one-year term. Zohlen's term will begin on Jan. 1, 2018, succeeding incoming 2018 FPA President Frank Paré, CFP®.


With nearly 20 years of experience in financial planning, Zohlen is founder and president of Inspired Financial in Huntington Beach, Calif. and helps women and their families make smart money decisions to secure their financial futures.


Prior to founding Inspired Financial, Zohlen was a Relationship Manager for The Vanguard Group and served as an adviser for clients with retirement plan assets ranging from $175 million to $500 million. She's a graduate from the University of Texas and earned her Master of Science from the Joint Military Intelligence College and a Master in Business Administration from Villanova University.


A former intelligence officer in the United States Air Force, Zohlen is passionate about helping those in transition. She is a past member of the FPA Board of Directors and serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Investment and Wealth Management at University of California, Irvine. A dedicated community leader, she served as chair of the FPA of California, chair of the OneFPA Advisory Group, served on the boards of WomanSage and the American Poetry Review, on the President's Council at Immaculata University, and as finance director for the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.


FPA is also pleased to announce the election of three new members to its Board of Directors. Each new board member will serve a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2018.


The newly elected FPA board members will apply their diverse backgrounds and experience in helping guide FPA's objective of being the recognized and unquestioned home for CFP® professionals while working to advance the recognition of the financial planning profession.


The new board members are:

  • Kimberly Bridges, Ph.D., CFP®, CPWA®, CDFA™ - Vice President, Senior Financial Planner at The Commerce Trust Company in Kansas City, Mo.

  • Christopher Draughon, CFP® - Director of Financial Planning at First Coast Wealth Advisors in St. Augustine, Fla.

  • ​Dennis J. Moore, CFP® - Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Quest Capital Management, Inc. in Dallas, TX.

​"The FPA Board of Directors is responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the association, using FPA's core beliefs as the key filters for making decisions in a fiduciary capacity on behalf of members and constituents," says 2017 FPA President Shannon J. Pike, CFP®. "The entire organization is thankful for the time and commitment that Evelyn, Kimberly, Chris and Dennis are making to FPA as we work to advance the financial planning profession."

The 2018 Board will be comprised of 14 total members, which includes the three newly elected members and FPA Executive Director/CEO Lauren M. Schadle, CAE.
