DENVER – The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is pleased to announce the keynote speakers for FPA’s Annual Conference: BE Seattle 2014, the year’s largest gathering of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals, to be held Sept. 20-22 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.
Leading personal and professional productivity expert and author David Allen, will kick off the conference on Saturday, Sept. 20, with his presentation Leveraging Focus and Vision: Harnessing the Power of Imagery in Life and Work. Allen, who is the author of the international bestseller, Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, will disclose how the master key to getting things done—focus—works powerfully and automatically to enhance perception and performance, wherever it is applied. He will provide data about how imagery works to produce information and inspiration, and many practical techniques for utilizing those keys immediately in our day-to-day worlds, both personally and professionally.
On Sunday, Sept. 21, Google Head of Media Outreach Daniel Sieberg, will present Better Understanding the Needs of Your Clients. As a technologist with Google, an Emmy-nominated TV correspondent, and author of The Digital Diet, Sieberg will explore the minds of financial planning clients as they try to best navigate communications in the always-on age and will touch on ways to manage businesses most effectively and retain a sense of order amid the chaos.
Internationally acclaimed author Dr. Kerry Johnson, MBA, Ph.D., known as the “Nation’s Business Psychologist,” will kick off Monday, Sept. 22, with How to Read Your Clients' Minds. By focusing on the need for advisers to develop strong client relationships, Johnson will provide techniques advisers can use to gain trust while providing a greater understanding of how advisers can communicate more effectively with clients and how to deliver results.
Closing the keynote series on Monday, Sept. 22, Jennifer Grazel, the Global Head of Category Development for Financial Services at LinkedIn, will present Social Media’s Impact on the Business and Practice of Financial Planning. Grazel, who has a diverse background in financial services and digital marketing, will explore the ways social media is changing the way advisers find, attract, and interact with clients. She’ll discuss research that has established meaningful trends and best practices and instruct advisers on how to target social media efforts for meaningful return.

Also joining FPA’s Annual Conference as the General Session Host is Jill Schlesinger, CFP®. Schlesinger, an Emmy-nominated Business Analyst for CBS News, will moderate the general sessions and join the keynote speakers on stage for candid, one-on-one interviews where she will delve further into their topics using her background as a CFP® professional and journalist.
