​DENVER - The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is pleased to announce the hiring of Josephine M. Colacci, Esq. of Golden, Colo. as the association's new Public Policy Counsel.


Colacci joins FPA after spending the past six years as the Director of Government Affairs for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) in Chicago. Prior to that, she was Manager of Government Affairs for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in Denver, the Executive Director and Lobbyist for the Quality Healthcare Coalition in Englewood, Colo., and a Program Director/Lobbyist for Strategic Resources Group.

In her new role at FPA, Colacci will work with FPA Advocacy Director Karen Nystrom and will oversee the development and implementation of FPA's public policies and advocacy strategies, specifically as it relates to current and proposed federal legislation and regulations that impact CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals. She will also serve as FPA's primary liaison to the Financial Planning Coalition and to the FPA Advocacy Committee, which vets key issues and recommends organizational positions.

"Advocacy at the federal and state levels have become much more of a priority for FPA over the past few years and I am excited to add her to the team. Josephine's standing as an attorney and as a seasoned government affairs leader will help FPA further advance one of our core objectives – to be the voice of CFP® professionals."


A graduate of Colorado State University, Colacci attended the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver where she earned her Law Degree in May 2007. She is currently licensed to practice in Colorado, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia.


"As we look to grow our advocacy efforts, Josephine will be instrumental in not only representing FPA, but will be an impactful communicator with our 93 chapters and state councils – and more than 1,000 chapter leaders across the country," added Schadle.


Colacci will begin her duties at FPA effective Monday, Aug. 15, 2016.
