Students to demonstrate knowledge of financial planning at largest gathering of CFP® professionals in 2015

DENVER –The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), Ameriprise Financial and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) today announced that students and CFP Board-registered universities can now register to compete in the 2015 Financial Planning Challenge (FPC). This three-stage competition was created to support the next generation of financial planners by: engaging students and academic advisors in the financial planning community; raising awareness around career opportunities; and encouraging students to learn and network with industry professionals.

The final stages of the competition will transpire at the FPA Annual Conference: BE Boston 2015, the largest gathering of Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professionals this year. The conference will be held at Sept. 26-28 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

With an emphasis on interactively delivering cutting-edge practice management strategies and advanced financial planning trends by the best minds, the FPA Annual Conference: BE Boston 2015 is the perfect setting for today's financial planning students to showcase their knowledge of the profession.

"The Financial Planning Challenge has evolved into a highly anticipated event at the FPA Annual Conference. Seasoned CFP® professionals in attendance look forward to the event as much as the students who are participating," said FPA Executive Director/CEO Lauren M. Schadle, CAE. "Ameriprise and CFP Board have been valued partners in this program for many years. Together we are providing students a platform to connect with planners and demonstrate their understanding of the profession."

"We are pleased to be part of the 2015 Financial Planning Challenge – a venue where aspiring CFP® professionals can demonstrate their abilities and showcase their talents," said CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller, CAE. "Thanks to both FPA and Ameriprise for working with CFP Board as we build the next generation of talented CFP® professionals who will provide Americans competent and ethical financial planning services."

The competition criteria have been developed in part to illustrate potential avenues for satisfying the CFP Board Financial Plan Development Course requirements for both students and faculty. A program description and details on eligibility are available on the FPA Annual Conference: BE Boston 2015 website.
