David Brand to utilize experience and understanding of organizational dynamics to help support FPA’s long-term strategic vision
DENVER - The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) today announced that long-time industry leader and association executive David Brand has officially joined FPA as Director of Strategic Operations.
In this new role, David will focus his efforts on assisting FPA in achieving its strategic directive of becoming the “recognized and unquestioned professional membership organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professionals.” To this end, he will be instrumental in guiding the organization on several major internal and external issues and programs and will be involved in major policy and landscape issues affecting the organization.
“I have known David professionally and personally for 17 years. It is a privilege to add his level of strategic expertise and depth of relationships within the profession to our staff team,” said Lauren M. Schadle, CAE, FPA executive director and CEO. “I can’t think of anyone more qualified to be in this lead strategic role on our senior management team during this time of immense and necessary transformational change.”
Tapping into David’s vast knowledge and know-how on strategic planning and thinking, he will oversee the implementation of FPA's business plan, specifically working with other staff leaders on new member and chapter initiatives and deliverables while facilitating and fostering strategic partnerships and relationships.

For 25 years, David has been a leader in a number of professional organizations, including the Financial Planning Association, End-of-Life Choices, the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, and Continuing Legal Education in Colorado. He became a leadership and organizational consultant in 2004, focusing on helping individuals and organizations develop leadership skills, improve communication, achieve personal mastery and realize organizational and team excellence.
David received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver College of Law and a masters degree in public administration from the University of Colorado. He is certified by the Minessence Group International in values based coaching and consulting.
