Facts & Figures

Financial Planning Association

The Journal goes to an average of 72,000 financial planning professionals monthly, both in print and digitally. The core circulation is made up of the full membership of the Financial Planning Association plus selected others who are nonmember CFP® certificants, candidates for CFP certification, CPAs, ChFCs, CFAs, and attorneys.

The Journal was approved for membership in BPA Worldwide, a provider of business media audits, in 1997. Although we no longer work directly with BPA for audits or statements, we still keep all necessary information and create a similar report for circulation purposes.

Years Published
First published in 1979, the Journal of Financial Planning was reformatted in 1996 to expand its editorial approach and accommodate advertising placements. It broadened its paid and controlled circulation base to reach out to nonmember CFP certificants and candidates for CFP certification as well as other professionals working in the financial planning field.

Members of the editorial, art, and advertising departments work together to produce the Journal of Financial Planning. You can see a list of the current Journal staff HERE.

Montgomery-Warschauer Award

This prestigious award, named after Henry Montgomery and Tom Warschauer, is chosen annually by the Journal to honor the paper that provided the most outstanding contribution to the betterment of the profession in the preceding year.
