, currently serves on the board of directors for the Financial Planning Association
®
(FPA
®
), the largest membership organization for CFP
®
professionals in the country, and includes many others who support the financial planning process.
Power is founder and principal of Power Plans, in Walpole, Massachusetts that provides financial life planning and investment management services primarily to individuals. He has more than 20 years of experience as a financial planner. He retired from the US Army after almost 30 years as a Colonel, and worked for GTE Corporation (now part of Verizon) immediately after retirement.
Power was a member of the board of directors with FPA of Massachusetts for six years, serving as Director of Technology during that time. Additionally, Power has served on several FPA National task forces including the Community Committee, and the Pro Bono Advisory Committee both of which he chaired. Power has been a volunteer and leader in pro bono services and was recognized with a Heart of Financial Planning Award in 2012 for establishing a program to serve reserve component military in MA and assisting other states in establishing such programs. He was selected as the Massachusetts chapter Financial Planner of the Year in 2014.
Power holds a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a major in business management, and a master's degree from Babson College with a concentration in operations management. He holds a diploma in financial planning from Boston University.
